Agreed. My uncle has a 300ex, and that thing is bullet proof, its been sunk, flipped, rolled, wrecked, sunk, flown, and it keeps on ticking.

Yes it was flown around 100-150ft from a concrete piling.

yea I'd also say look for a used 300ex, I had one for the longest time and its a very fun atv, I beat the ... outta it and it never stopped. also those Chinese ATVs from what I heard are very unreliable and they cut a lot of corners to keep price down.
FMF Ti 4 Full exhaust system, dyno tuned Moto map with 10,500RPM Rev limit, tuned by "cannondale27", Port and Polish done by BlackWidowATV, No-Toil dual stage filter, and all of the engine updates have been done, more engine mods soon to come... once I find some money lol!!

Definitely a 300EX, maybe even an older 400EX if you can find one. Can't go wrong with a Honda.

And I agree with stoopidbot! DO NOT buy a Chinese quad!

The chinese bikes are scary. I saw one that had a frame that looked about as strong as my tie rods. Should be illegal. I agree with the 300ex and 400ex. They are cheap and tuff and better yet 4 strokes. If you like 2 strokes blasters go cheap too.

Blaster is also a great machine, 4 strokes are a much more "rider friendly" than the 2 strokes. They are easier to cruise around at a slow pace and climbing hills and stuff. The 2 stroke you have to keep your RPMs up to keep the machine in it's power ban.

what is the power ban exactly, i've definitely felt them but im just wondering what goes on in the engine when you hit it

Dont get a 300ex, ignore all the other posts (no offense) but there flat out slow as balls. Get an older 400ex, around 00-01 you can get for 1500 and put a small ammount of work into it and it'll be just fine. 300exs are so boring in power.

I don't know exactly what goes on but it is when you better hang on. It's not as noticable on a 4 stroke. But on my old 500 if I hit the ban and wasn't ready for it, the bike would stand up in 4th. 5th if I pulled up.

he power band is the RPM range that you make most your power. 2 strokes typically have a really short upper RPM powerband so when u hit it U FEEL IT. 4 strokes make good power through most of the RPMs typically so the term powerband doesn't really get talked about with 4 strokes.

I know what it is, but what causes the 2 stroke to get that sudden burst? I know it is because you have the RPM in the right range but what exactly goes on that makes it launch?
