Help me decide please...660 Raptor or YFZ450?

Hi guys, I would like to get some advice about which ATV to purchase. First off, my experience with ATVs is still very new, I have been riding for about 3-4 months and am loving every minute of it. It has been mostly trails so far abd I would like to get into ATV MX soon. I am 6feet 1 inches tall and about 280 lbs. I have been riding my friends Yamaha Blaster and Honda 450 for the most part. I am currently looking at a used raptor 660 or a used 06 yfz450. Which of these two do you think would be better for me? I am planning to do mainly trail riding but would like to get into MX track riding, but nothing competitive off course except between a few of my friends. Please help me to decide which ATV would be better for me...raptor 660 or yfz450???? I plan on keeping this quad for at least 2 years or more. thannks for the help.

The 660 is a great machine but it is kind of one dimensional. While it will work on the track you will get spanked bad compared to the YFZ.

The 660 would be a bit easier on the trails because it is a true trail quad. Really tall gears, you can ride one gear a lot longer which leads to less shifting on the trails.

The YFZ will take more clutch work to ride on the trails, but that will make you a better rider and if you decide to ride MX you have a base model race machine.(no LT suspension or crazy shocks.)

My opinion would be the YFZ

yfz might be a little bit more expensive but I would deff. shoot for that. Also you can find 2006 700 raptors sometimes for the same price as yfz 450's.... The 700 is a whole different machine. If it was a shoot out between the yfz and raptor 700 then I would go with the 700 for trail riding with some mx.

Ergonomics are also completely different between the two machines. The Raptor makes you sit way up high where as the YFZ is more of a squatting feel.

hmm.. both are pretty nice, i would say raptor though just because of the trail riding, it would be much nicer for trails and you can always really let loose on it if u want to race, either ones good but raptor looks like the better choice.

If you're going to do any MX stuff, I'd go with the YFZ.

i would do a 450 yfz the raptor is light in the front and likes to come up on you and the raptor really is not faster then the 450 yfz.

ok i know most of you guyz are saying to get the yfz but if you are a new rider id have to say get the 660 because if ur going to be riding the trails it has one inportant thing reverse and the yfz dosnt and another thing if he isnt complainning that the blaster is to slow id say he wouldent use half the power that eather of the quads have

Does it have to be one of these two quads? I would go with a 400ex. Cheap, super reliable, many upgrades if you ever wanted to, and greatt on the trails very easy clutch, get a 2006+ one if you want reverse too (or 2005+ can remember)
