help of 2000 400ex chain
i just got a new chain and spockets and i put them on and when a go to tighten the chain the chain tighten but it doesn't tight enough. could this be because i have a stock size chain on it and i have a 14t spocket in the front and a 38t spocket in the back(stock size is 15t front and 38t back) could you please help me!!!!!!!!

Remove one link. That should fix your problem. You don't want it set all the way back from the beginning of the chains life. You want it all the way forward. This way when the chain stretches you have room to rotate everything back and tighten it.

i tryed that and the chain will not fit then do you think i should go down to a 13t spocket

i bought a cheap chain off of ebay do you think i shuold get a good one thing renthal or something like that

Can you move the rear carrier to adjust the chain? If so, push it all the way forward. Is the chain not long enough or it has too much?

it is really hard to rotate the thing that tights the chain
could you tell me the right way to tighten the chain?

And also when i have the axle all the way back the chain is to loss. then when i take out one link and i have it all the way forward the chain will not fit.

To adjust the chain, loosen all the bolts on the back of the carrier. Then next to the sprocket there should be some grooves that you can put a screw driver in and rotate it forward or backwards. Is that how you're doing it? You could always try to go up a tooth on the front. You said that the front sprocket has been changed. Try to go up or down a tooth to see if that may be your issue.

These are the 4 bolts you loosen.


This is the slot that you put the screw driver in to move it forward and backward.


The whole assembly, everything on the axle will move.
