400ex will not start

hi, my 2000 400ex will not start the only way i started is by starting it with a something metal.
i don't know want the peice is but it is right next to the battery
please help

Are you saying you have to use a screwdriver or other metal object to start it? Not sure what you are saying.

Be careful with that, don't shock yourself. Sounds like you need a new switch or you have wiring issues. Check all your wiring.

My old 400ex had the same problem, it was the yellow start button. We had to get a whole new switch, make sure you buy a new one too and not an old one off ebay, I heard it happened to a lot of 400ex's.

You might check the neutral safety switch as well. I'd check continuity on the start button then the safety switch. If they check out you can start hunting for power and where it stops.

I could be wrong but have you checked the battery? Do your lights come on when the keys are on?
