I am rather new to using quads. Is there any problems with cleaning mud and dirt from quads with a pressure washer? I have two utility and a sport quad.
How about cleaning the sweat in helmets. Will sending them thuough the dish washer be OK?
Thanks

Re: Cleaning with pressure
that's how I always clean all of ours, only thing you have to watch is your decals... i'v lost a few of mine when I wasnt paying attention, as far as the helmet goes take a look at it cause some of them have removable pads that you can take out for easier cleaning.
FMF Ti 4 Full exhaust system, dyno tuned Moto map with 10,500RPM Rev limit, tuned by "cannondale27", Port and Polish done by BlackWidowATV, No-Toil dual stage filter, and all of the engine updates have been done, more engine mods soon to come... once I find some money lol!!

Re: Cleaning with pressure
Like stated, most helmets have a somewhat removable liner that you can hand wash. I wouldn't put it in the dishwasher, that hot of water may do something to the structural integrity of the protective shell.
As for the pressure washer, just try not to spray directly on seals and gaskets. Those are meant to "seal" at atmospheric pressure. A pressure washer is well above that. Will something break or fail? Probably not, but you CAN shorten the life of those seals.
Spray some of this stuff on the motor and all the metal parts and dirt and gunk comes right off.

Like Bot says, I try to avoid using the pressure washer near seals and gaskets. It can make a bad situation worse. I use simple green in a squirt bottle and a garden hose- it makes em shine really nice!

I use the pressure washer after every ride. other than what the other guys stated, you also want to be careful spraying your oil cooler. keep a good distance from it and always spray it from straight ahead. if you hit it from the side with pressure you'll bend over those fins and air won't flow through anymore. it's good to have ramps and hit the under belly too. that's where most of my mud gets stuck.

Re: Cleaning with pressure
I learned that working on Hondas- people pressure wash the rear axle area and hit those seals really hard- for some reason some Hondas let the water thru and before long you have rusted bearings in the swingarm that you can't see, and that's a job..... seals are only meant to handle 1 or 2 atmospheres of pressure, not 3200PSI.
BOT you were paying attention I am impressed! LOL take the day off!

sorry, as for helmets, take em apart if you can. if not, Rocky Mountain ATV sells some spray foo-foo juice that's supposed to clean helmets and freshen them. I have not tried this product so can't speak of it.
