LINCOLN - The high cost of gasoline has a growing number of Nebraska communities letting residents ply city streets on four-wheel motorcycles.

At least eight communities, from Alliance to Orleans and Niobrara to Hemingford, have passed laws in recent months to permit the all-terrain vehicles, which are commonplace on farms and ranches and for off-road recreation.

Such ATVs typically get 30 to 40 miles per gallon in the city, a far cry from the fuel appetites of pickup trucks and SUVs.

Excellant decision on Nebraska's part.Other states & countrys should do that as well knowing that the price of gas is spiralling out of control.
