The Chengwatana State Forest has forested upland islands surrounded by marsh and brush. Three rivers, the Kettle, Snake, and St. Croix, flow through the forest. Recreational opportunities include hiking, snowmobiling, and horseback riding along the Willard Munger State Trail and overnight camping at the Snake River State Forest Campground.
