The previous reviewer is not telling the truth, Craycraft Racing Raptors have an excellent reputation for performance and reliability. I suspect the previous poster is friends with or a customer of Craycraft's competition, Craycraft Racing is a top shelf shop for high HP Raptors (and TRX450s and Rhinos). Craycraft Racing has been building Raptor motors for me since 2003. I have been to the owner's house and not only doesn't he work out of his basement, his house doesn't even have a basement! He has a full blown shop in Foreman AR and only subs out polishing, everything else is done "in house".
My first Craycraft motor was the $1695 Signature 686 package, the motor the previous poster suposedly "reviewed". I MX'd that motor for a year without any problems and then sold it to a guy that XC raced it and won his season. It was very strong, I could outrun MX YFZs anywhere except the turns and it was just as reliable, neither of us had any problems with it.
My next Craycraft Racing Raptor motor was a 13:1 727 with a Ti rod, oversized valves, Craycraft's high rpm cam, and Craycraft's high rpm porting. I tried to MX it but it was too strong so I switched to drag racing. The motor made 67 HP and 51 lb/ft TQ on 35mm FCRs, it would have been over 70 HP on 39mm FCRs. That motor would spin past 10K rpm and never came apart although it did blow a head gasket one time when I tried to hit it with a big nitrous shot.
My next Craycraft Racing Raptor motor was a 760 with a Barker 3 plug head and Barker's remote start setup (took 20 lbs off the motor). It had oversized exhaust valves, Craycraft's cam, a CP 14:1 piston, a Hinson 6 spring clutch, and Barker's 4mm stroker crank/rod. That motor made 76 HP and 56 lb/ft TQ. I got tired of the remote start setup and the motor is back at Craycraft Racing for "upgrades" (over 800cc).
While I was running the remote start Raptor, I bought a used Craycraft Racing 12.5:1 727 for use in a spare drag chassis. I've run this motor on gas, alky, and lately on 30% nitromethane. It has a Ross piston, a Carillo rod, a Hinson 6 spring clutch, oversized valves, Craycraft high rpm porting, and Craycrafts high rpm cam. This motor has been as reliable as a stone, I beat the crap out of it on the drag track and it never complains.
Not only do I have personal experience with Craycraft Racing's motors, I've seen them run against other builder's motors at larger drag races across the country and if they don't win, they are always in the hunt.
Craycraft Racing is an excellent shop, great customer service and strong, reliable motors.
