Cons: Fairly soft composition.
Soon after I bought my Brute Force, I bought a set of used ITP wheels and tires from a friend. The tires were 26x9" fronts, and 26x11" rears, for a 14" wheel. All in all, these tires have proved to be absolutely amazing. They have done everything I have wanted them to do and more.
Appearance
The first thing you notice when looking at this tire is that it looks plain old mean. The tread is super-aggressive looking.
First Impressions
Right after I mounted the tires on my quad, I took it out for a spin. The first thing I noticed was how easy the quad was to turn. Also, the width of the tires over the stock set makes it much more stable.
Handling/Steering
The TerraCross R/T transformed the Brute Force from a difficult-to-steer quad into one that was easier to steer than a Kodiak 450, which is a much smaller and more nimble machine. Steering is extremely predictable and input is great. The quad handles very well now.
Smoothness
The tire is very smooth. Compared to tires like the Mud-Lite XTR, the TerraCross makes the quad rides like a Cadillac.
Traction
There is no doubt in my mind; the TerraCross R/T provides the best traction (on non-muddy surfaces) of any tire. It grips like crazy. The terrain you are on has no affect (unless it is ice or mud); no matter where you are, the TerraCross always finds maximum traction.
Trails
On the trails, no tire can match the TerraCross. The combination it provides of awesome traction, great handling charateristics, and extreme smoothness is utterly amazing.
Mud
Surprisingly, the TerraCross does very well in the mud. I have yet to be in very deep mud (this is because I ride in MA and PA), but it has easily gotten me through all the mud I have come across. I have actually out-mudded my dad, who has 25" Mud-Lite XTRs. For the occasional mud pit, the TerraCross is awesome. I have yet to get stuck.
Rocks
On the rocks, the TerraCross truly shines. Its soft composition allows it to grip every edge of the surface. Nothing else to say here; it is an amazing tire for rocky trails as well as rock-crawling.
Other
The single downfall of the TerraCross is its soft composition. Luckily, I have not had a flat yet, but the previous owner of these tires had a few. However, this is easily overcome if you properly air-down the tires and know their limits.
OVERAL
For the type of riding I do, the ITP TerraCross R/T is the absolute perfect tire. Its performance on the trails and its surprising ability in the mud proves that, though fairly expensive, it is well worth every single penny. It is a truly amazing tire. Overall: 10/10.
