I have a 500 PolarisX2, and my wife has decided she wanted her own machine. I wanted to find something for her a little smaller and easy to steer. We drove them all in the 400 cc range, and I decided on the 450 Grizzly. We paid $5399 for the '08, and I couldn't find anything in that price range that compared. It had the high/low selector, which I felt we needed because we crawl up a lot of rocks and thru the winding trees. I also liked that the rear brake is now in the rear differential and runs in fluid.
The bike seems well balanced, and my wife is very happy with it. It's just the right size. I was also impressed with the low noise on the variator transmission and very impressed with the transmission brake going down hills. I very seldom used the brakes. The engine starts fast, doesn't seem to be cold blooded. Oh yea, I also liked that it had the traction lock if we get in a bind. I was going to get the 400 for her, but the 450 had the low range on the transmission, the sealed rear brake, and the digital dash.
With the $400 rebate, I got the 450 for a little less than I could get the 400.
Happy riding. If you're ever in Arkansas give me a shout. fhottes@centurytel.net
