Pros: you can jump on any sportsmen and thay all feal the same. the 4wheel drive kicks a**. hands down the best 4x4 system i have ever experienced. when you put it in low and all wheel drive you better hold on, because your going through it or your going to bury it. most people complain, that the single brake lever has no feel or that there is only one lever. i like the single lever. in a jam you can grab for one thing and both brakes respond. the 4x4 sytem is the flick of a button in and out and it works in all speeds i could go on but i will stop there.
Cons: the only disappointment's is the lose of power in sand and on long steep incline. in the sand i couldn't get over 34mph even in 4wheel drive, i never got stuck though. on long incline if you go up in high you run the risk of being bog down. if you go up in low you have to stop at the bottom of the hill then you lose momentum. in low you hit the throttle and NOTHING can stop you. the wheels will bury you, not stop turning.

for the money and features. there is no competition. the little quirks will be experienced with any manufactures machine, in the same CC class. the sportsman 400 is a work horse whether your hunting, trail riding, or working around the farm. for all the things the bike is, it is not a race machine. on a gravel road ive reached a speed of 53mph. overall i believe it is a great machine.
