I installed a stage 2 hotcam in a stock bore, 11:1 compression raptor that had previously housed a stage 1 hotcam. There was a dramatic increase of power on top end and it was easier to rev the bike out on longer rides and drag runs. Decompression mechanism worked fine after I realized it was in wrong.
The decompression mechanism can be tricky and some raptors will need the middle valve guide machined since not all of them were properly pressed into the head from the factory. I did notice a slight drop in lower range power from the stage 1, but I still had a lot so it wasnt really a problem. Also requires stiffer aftermarket valve springs at a cost of about 150 bucks.
Good cam and great for recreational riders and mild to moderate engine builds. If you are going bigger look into a more aggressive webcam. If you spend all of your time putting around at low rpm or dont want to shell out the extra bucks for the valve springs go with the stage 1 hotcam. I really liked it and given the choice I would have purchased it again.
