The Yamaha Kodiak 450 4x4 Auto with IRS is a great machine. It looks, rides, and feels perfect.
Likes:
-Comfortability.
-IRS...this also gives it great ground clearance in the rear.
-Low center of gravity.
-Well placed controls.
-Relatively fuel efficient.
-Good looking.
-Easy to operate.
-Amazing steering/handling.
-Engine braking.
-Easy to use transmission that is extremely smooth.
Dislikes:
My only complaint is the power (or lack thereof). This is Yamaha's 450 model of the Kodiak, yet it only has 420cc's of power. The Kodiak 400 has around 400cc's. Yamaha should have made the Kodiak 450 a true 450. It has very good power for a mid-size quad, but don't try to race any utility quads over 500cc's...you'll get smoked.
OVERALL:
I give the Yamaha Kodiak 450 4x4 Automatic with IRS 5 out of 5 stars. It is a fun, nimble ATV with enough power to go (almost) anywhere you want. I highly recommend this quad. It is my first quad, and I will keep it until I'm ready for a big-bore ute. Yamaha did a great job with the Kodiak 450.
